Troy, a Lancaster Wisconsin native, visited Colorado as a child on family vacations. As a young adult, his treks through the Roosevelt National Forest led to his discovery of a, " freeing joy that the mountains gave him." In 2010, Troy moved West where he was mentored by his "mountain men" idols Rodney Sweeney (Great Uncle) and Todd Williams (Uncle) who shared with him mountain men and woodsmen culture, spirituality, and skills of leathercrafting.

After eight years of practicing leatherwork in the Rocky Mountains, Troy Miles founded Miles Made Co. to share his deep passion for the outdoors through handcrafted leather.
